Sun Causes Signs of Aging

Once you hit your 30s, you will probably notice a few signs of aging. Most men are affected by crow's feet, expression lines, and maybe some hyper pigmentation on the cheeks and/or forehead. After all, you can't escape the aging process. But, you can slow it down. One important factor to realize is the primary cause of aging skin. It's the sun. You may worship it, bathe in its rays, frolic in its warmth, and enjoy the golden tan it provides, but don't forget, the sun is also making you look older.

Sun damage, such as age spots, freckles, wrinkles, broken capillaries, and leathery skin are caused by the sun's damaging UVA and UVB rays. Unfortunately this is something that many men do not want to believe. However, the majority of skin aging is caused by sun exposure over the years. So, if you enjoy the sun, just make sure you take the necessary steps to protect your youthful skin. Apply a quality sunscreen with an SPF or 15 or higher. If you remain in the sun for a long period of time, it needs to be reapplied every two hours.

Consider the parts of your body that are exposed to the sun's harmful rays. Most likely, these include your face, neck, arms and legs. Take a moment to apply a sunscreen at least 15 minutes before heading outdoors. If you're looking for a sunscreen that does not leave a ghostly white sheen on your skin, try a product with chemical sunscreens like Avobenzone, Octisalate, and Octinoxate. If you are interested in a sunscreen that can withstand sweat and swimming, then you may have to opt for a product with physical sunscreens like Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide. These stay on the skin longer.

Try not to soak up too much sun at a time. While sunbathing is certainly all the rage, as it has been for many decades now, too much sun really increases your risk of skin cancer as well. If you are unsure of what sunscreens are available for guys, try brands like Jack Black, Anthony Logistics for Men, Menscience, Lab Series for Men, and Billy Jealousy. There are plenty of drugstore sunscreens like Neutrogena and Aveeno available as well, which cost less.
