Sunscreen for Men

Even though men everywhere know plenty about how the sun can damage skin, countless guys still fail to use sunscreen. What is going on here, men? This is your complexion we are talking about. You must protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays, or you will experience some serious premature aging. Think about how much time you spend in the sun each and every day. Is your skin protected with a quality sunscreen for men?

Just so you know, there are oodles of sunscreens, sunblocks, moisturizers with sunscreen, and SPF lotions on the market today that can assist you with protecting your precious mug. Surely you have heard of Coppertone Sunscreen. This is a very common drugstore brand that is easy to acquire for $10 or $12. They make sun block lotions, sprays and creams that range from SPF 15 to SPF 50. It all just depends on the how much time you spend in the sun each day, and the level of sun protection you need.

Do not assume that “real men” do not need sunscreen. This could not be further from the truth. The number one factor when it comes to aging skin is sun exposure. Therefore you can expect to accumulate some serious fine lines, deep wrinkles and sun damage over the years if you choose not to wear sunscreen for men. Consider the amount of time it takes before you get sunburned outdoors. If this is 20 minutes, you can slap on a sun block with SPF 15 and increase that time by 15. That’s 300 minutes! Not bad, and well worth the minimal effort.

Some good skin care brands that make quality sunscreens for men are Menscience, Jack Black, L’Oreal, Kiehl’s, and Clarins. However, these sun block products will cost you a bit more than Coppertone sunscreen at the local drugstore. It all just depends on what you prefer, and how much you are willing to spend. For example, Mary Kay makes a sunscreen for men that is also a face moisturizer. It has an SPF of 25, and sells for around $22 (three fluid ounces).

The next time you head out the door in the morning, stop and think about your skin first. Do you want to avoid excessive sun damage, fine lines, broken capillaries, deep wrinkles and crow’s feet? If the answer is yes, then take that extra minute and apply some sunscreen to your face, ears and neck. In the future, you will be really glad you did.
